Why the largest start-up organisation in Switzerland uses the .swiss internet domain
The figures speak for themselves. Launched 11 years ago, the Top 100 Swiss Startup brand has become a true benchmark, even by international standards. The number of jobs created in the start-up scene alone – supported and ranked by Top 100 Swiss Startups – is equivalent to the number of jobs in a medium-sized Swiss city.
This is creating space for the future – not only in the virtual world, but also in the physical one, with the Top 100 Swiss Startup Award 2021 being held for the first time in its own Startup Space in Schlieren (Zurich Metropolitan Area). In 2019, the dot.swiss internet domain entered into a partnership with Venturelab to introduce the .swiss extension. Startups are often still free in their choice of internet address; by choosing a .swiss domain name, they can boost their image considerably. Why? Because even if nobody knows about your company, everybody knows about Swiss Made.
The domain extension .swiss is a perfect fit for the Top 100 Swiss Startups. This is why the organisation behind it, Venturelab, has also switched completely to .swiss in 2021.
A camera team from dot.swiss and apprentices from OFCOM – which protected the .swiss internet domain as a community domain for the Swiss Confederation in 2014 and runs a flagship project about modern internet regulation – interviewed some experts about .swiss at the Top 100 Swiss Startup Award Night 2021:
Watch and listen to why .swiss is the right choice for Swiss start-ups.
